Donations to the Library

The Library invites your kind donation

What types of donations are accepted?

The library accepts materials, supplies, and monetary donations.  Material and supply donations must be in good condition.

What donations are not accepted?

Please do not donate the following types of materials:

  • Items in poor condition
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Magazines
  • Textbooks published 4 or more years ago

What does the library do with donations?

Donated items such as books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and musical instruments may add to or replace materials in our collection.  Any items not added to our stacks will go to the Friends of the Library for their book sales or store.

How do I deliver donated materials?

Bring your donated items to the Stephen Central Library's loading dock, at the back of the building, Monday-Friday between 9 AM-2 PM. Use the button on the wall to call staff.

Donated materials must be in secure boxes or bags that must be left with the donations.

If needed, bring help to unload your items on to the dock. Staff is unable to unload items from your vehicle.

What else should I know when delivering?
  • Ask staff for a donation acknowledgment form
  • Staff will not appraise donated items
Do you accept monetary donations?

Monetary donations are also gladly accepted to assist with the many functions of the library.

You can designate your donation to support specific library programs, departments, or branches; any monetary donations not specified for a particular use will be put in the library’s general fund to support operations.

How can I make a monetary donation?

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please complete the monetary donation form and include it with your kind donation.

You can give your donation by stopping in at any of the three library locations
